The Pepperpad 3 is a handheld 7" touchscreen PC with a simplified user interface and built-in thumbboard through which one can access suite of computing and entertainment functions. It's really a low end PC using the AMD Geode LX800 CPU. The operating system is Fedora Core 4 Linux and the graphical user interface is the Pepper Keeper/Desktop from Pepper Computing.

The PepperPad is kinda bulky and is ugly. Though it has improved since the first one. But why would people pay the extra $ for a luxury item when they can walk to the other room and use a desktop or just move their laptop. And if you wanted a mobile PMP, then just get a Video iPod or such. It's a niche product.
It would be a nice device for travel. I could also see it as a nice machine to use on the couch to administer a server. Seems like a better choice than the current generation of UMPC's.
I'm really interested in this device. It's a little big and has some of the drawbacks of the UMPC (slow bootup, relatively short battery life) but it certainly seems like a step in the right direction. It also sounds like it would be fun to program. I like the idea that I can remote desktop into PCs in my offices or just surf with a nice-sized screen while I'm lounging on the couch. I have a feeling if I got one of these I'd start pushing it to see how much I could do with it.
