A Prehistorik clone
"Computing old-timers surely remember Prehistorik 1 and 2 by Titus. I've loved these games; they were one of my favorites before the coming of Risky Woods, the, IMHO, best PC-based platformer game of 1992."

Doom for 2700G-enabled Pocket PC's
"Another very good news item is Doom for Dell Axim x50v and Dell Axim x51v devices. Sure, we do have the 2700G-optimized, great Quake Mobile and the, on x51v Dell Axims, due to RAM memory shortage, non-running Quake 3; this title, however, is the first Doom port to make use of the excellent 3D acceleration capab read more »

The security model of that BlackBerry on your hip isn't holding up very well to third-party scrutiny. According to a white paper by John O'Connor, a researcher on Symantec's security response team, hackers can pay $100 for an API developer key that can open doors to the theft of data from Research in Motion's BlackBerry devices. read more »

Linux users have been salivating over Trolltech's promised Greenphone for the better part of a year. The "open" Linux phone platform, powered by Trolltech's Qtopia 4 embedded software stack, is bundled with a Qtopia software development kit (SDK) designed to kick-start mobile Linux application development. The first batch of devices has now shipped, and I spent a couple of weeks with a review unit. While it's an interesting package, it's only a first step and in no way a finished product. read more »

Windows Mobile devices have made considerable strides in the past few years. We've seen two major releases, not to mention a slew of compatible devices, including the T-Mobile Dash, the Motorola Q, the Cingular 3125, and (of all things) a couple of Palm Treos. WM5 also exceeds its competitors in some increasingly important categories, like flexible music and video playback.
Nonetheless, we're due for an overhaul of the OS. While it works well on a basic level, it feels glitchy, recalling my memories of old DOS and Windows PCs. Here are my biggest complaints... read more »

You may have seen the news that people like Russell Shaw discussed that there are some Mac incompatibility issues with Office 2007 file formats. I am confident that someone will come out with a fix like Microsoft did for Office 2003 and if not there is always OpenOffice as an option. On the mobile side of the house, at this time I am fairly certain there is currently no mobile device application that will read these native Office 2007 Open XML formatted documents. read more »

It seems like only yesterday that 4gb SD 1.1 and 4gb SD 2.0 (aka SDHC) cards were released. But already, 8gb SDHC cards are appearing in volume and free-falling in price. But buyer beware--very few devices are compatible with 4gb SD cards, even fewer are compatible with 4gb SDHC, and an even smaller number can handle 8gb SDHC cards. Recent, high-end digital cameras are likely the only devices certified to handle such massive cards. read more »
