In a new study, IDC reported that, no matter where people live, they tend to seek out similar brands of cell phones, based on the prestige those brand names carry.

The study surveyed mobile phone and smartphone subscribers in five countries (U.S., U.K., Germany, China, India), and found that even in developing countries people prefer cell phones that are stylish and have a prestigious brand name attached to them, even if those phones are relatively expensive. read more »

Even if the iPhone is released in 2007, it won't really matter. Unless Apple is willing to compromise on some factors that appear very important to the company, the product won't really leverage the power of mobility to have as big of an impact as most expect. read more »
