The Washington Research Foundation is suing Nokia, Panasonic and Samsung for patent violations. The foundation represents researchers from universities in Washington State, one of whom filed a patent on high-frequency broadband tuning methods in 1999. The researcher and the foundation believe this method is used in Bluetooth. However the Bluetooth spec was developed in the mid-1990s and solidified in 1998, before the patent was filed. Despite a possible prior art defense, American chip maker Broadcom has licensed the technology from the Washington Research Foundation. Chipmaker CSR, whose Bluetooth chips are in Nokia, Panasonic and Samsung devices has not licensed the patent. read more »

First of all…. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
And second… whoooa! I love this phone!! But its only a conceptual phone ad for Apple

Two brothers Greg and Christopher Desantis, Design the device and directed the ad
Greg says at his blog:
“This is the 3D model of a fictional, next-generation iPod that I designed and built for a spec-commercial for my brother, Chris’, directing reel. I designed the device, built the 3D model and created animated menus. Chris directed, animated, edited and sound-designed the piece.”

I really hope apple will do something similar, I would buy it!

It looks like HP's taking another shot at the Smartphone market -- a market it's only halfheartedly attempted to breach in the past -- with the new iPAQ 510 Voice Messenger. The candybar (which, in our humblest of opinions, bears an uncanny resemblance to the Nokia N70) will run Windows Mobile 6 Standard and top out with quadband GSM / EDGE, though the inclusion of 802.11b / g spices things up a bit on the data side and throws the possiblity of VoIP into the mix. A quick glance at the spec sheet shows a 220 x 176 display, 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM, microSD expansion, Bluetooth 1.2, and a lowly 200MHz OMAP850 processor. read more »
