Someone on the Internet Tablet Talk forums has posted an image alleging to be the Nokia 870, the follow-on to the earlier 770 internet tablet device which Nokia dropped on the world last year. Little is known about this device, other than the fact is does VOIP and has a built-in webcam.

Engadget got a few new pics and details on Nokia's upcoming 870 Internet Tablet. According to their tipster, things have pepped up quite considerably under the hood, and internal memory has been bumped to 180MB, but the architecture is relatively unchanged. The 870 runs the exact same Internet 2006 OS as the 770. It has a new webcam and SD slot for expansion memory - it also comes with a headset for VoIP action.

Previous incarnations of the Tablet PC -- which uses a pen-like stylus to input information directly on screen -- have used their own custom version of Windows as an operating system, but Vista is designed to run unchanged on conventional PCs, notebooks and tablets.

Over the last few weeks I've had the chance to test something pretty unique.
It's a prototype from Eleksen, the company that makes fabric buttons. The bag combination keyboard and case product is made out of 'smart fabric' and has a usb connector to talk to your device, presumably a tablet or umpc.

XYZ Computing writes The ultraportable "X" line is composed of laptops with a 12" display, Intel mobile processor (a low voltage model in some cases), and very low weight. The current generation product is the X60, which comes in two varieties, the standard X60, which uses a Core 2 Duo processor, and the X60s, which moves to a Core Duo low voltage processor and shaves off a few ounces. Up until recently the X60 line did not have a tablet and Thinkpad fans were stuck using their X41 Tablet (X41t), which was powered by a low voltage Pentium M processor. While this is still a very solid system it does not have the upgrades found in the move to the X60 or the Core Duo processor.

Get ready for Origami take two. While Microsoft's mini-tablet effort may not be quite where the software maker had hoped, the project is ready for another cameo. Next month, at CES, Microsoft will be back with another round of the tiny computers. The latest tablets, code-named Vistagami because of their Windows Vista support, also will come in a wider range of looks, including some models with keyboards.
