An interesting option I hadn't considered is whether Palm might use the unfettered access to the Palm OS source code to make a Palm OS emulator for Windows Mobile 5, instantly giving the Treo an edge over competing WM5 devices. read more »

Palm argues the new $44 million deal with Access gives them a greater amount of flexibility with the Palm OS license to continue with further innovation and imporvement. Most importantly, Palm is preserving the strongest element of their business, the large and active Palm OS development community. read more »

It's not a new idea that Palm is working (possibly) on a new OS to replace their current offerings. What is new is that they have perhaps just secured the final piece of the puzzle to complete the OS picture at Palm. read more »
